To qualify as a potential Brainiac Franchise owner, you’ll need to have a net worth of $100,000 and liquid capital of $40,000 or more. But the amount you need to open your Center will depend heavily on where you plan to set up your business. It is recommended that your retail location for the center be at least 1,000 useable square feet, with a minimum lease term of 5 years.  Upon comparing, you’ll find that we provide our franchisees a much lower startup cost than other supplemental learning franchises.

Will I only be working as a Math & English Teacher?

No. Brainiac is not a one-on-one tutoring program where most students are here for a “quick-fix” solution to a short-term academic problem. Instead, our success is built on a proven concept of helping students from age 3 through high school to actively build self-learning skills. Your students will work at their own pace, moving through individualized worksheets on a daily basis. You’ll be there to help assess their starting point, answer their questions, and guide their ongoing progress by helping them if they struggle grasping a particular Math or English worksheet concept. Some of your younger students may require a bit more one-on-one attention at times, as they complete their early learning worksheets. You and your assistants will grade their worksheets and ensure they are progressing in their learning.

Do I need to have an educational background?

While that can prove quite valuable, it is certainly not a requirement to becoming a Brainiac Franchise owner (though you must have a four-year college degree). However, what is very important is that you have a passion for working with children, and believe in our mission of helping them become independent, self-assured and confident leaders of tomorrow. Many of our current owners came to us with some kind of business background, and many have their own children currently or previously enrolled in Brainiac.

What kind of initial training will I need?

Once you qualify as a potential Brainiac Franchise owner, you’ll participate in our Brainiac Instructor Development Program. This is a 30 hour training program that takes place over a 1 month period. Training is via confrence calls and on site at our Brainiac Center location in New Jersey. Here we’ll train you in the Brainiac Curriculum and the Brainiac Learning Method, as well as business strategies for owning and operating a Brainiac Center. As a Brainiac Center franchisee, you’ll also take part in our continuing education programs to refine your skills and further enhance your success.

How does Brainiac’s on-going support help my business?

Because we’re committed to providing our owners with the training, resources and support to help them thrive. For example, through our Brainiac branch office, our staff takes an active role in supporting you in both the administration of your programs and the growth and development of your center. The materials your students use are continually reviewed, updated and supplied to you. Both internal communications and customer communications are produced and disseminated regularly. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend continuing training, meetings and seminars, which will be attended by other Franchisees who can share their insights and experiences.

Will I have an exclusive territory to operate my Center?

YES. Your exclusive territory is based on total student population in a given area. This is described in the Franchise Agreement. Your exclusive territory is based on a first-come, first serve basis determined by the date you sign the Franchise Agreement.

Can I own a Brainiac Franchise and hire someone else to operate it?

Yes, it is critical to the success of Brainiac and to your business that you also remain directly involved in the day-to-day operations of your individual center. However, You can decide how many assistants or managers you will need. Having a hands-on approach and being the “face” of Brainiac to prospective and existing students and parents is key.

How can I help increase my future success and growth as a Brainiac Franchisee?

The success you can achieve as a Brainiac Franchisee is virtually limitless – especially if you have local connections and a strong comfort level with marketing to your area. As the administrator of your own center, you will also determine how many students you’re willing to enroll, how often your center is open to maximize convenience for parents, and how many assistants you will have on staff. In other words, you control your own destiny – a claim that few professionals can honestly make.

Should I find a location and sign my lease before attending Discovery Day and signing a Franchise Agreement?

NO. You must become an actual Franchisee before negotiating on a specfic location. One of the provisions of your Franchise Agreement is that your location is approved in writing by us. You should never sign a lease on any store front before signing the Franchise Agreement. You do not want to be legally bound to a lease before we have awarded you a franchise.
